Granite

GRANITE- THE SUPERSTONE! HUGE VARIETY AVAILABLE AT BHANDARI MARBLE GROUP:
WHAT IS GRANITE?
Granite is a natural stone that is quarried in many countries around the globe. Granite and Quartzite are the names that are used interchangeably wherever stone tile and slabs are sold. True Granite is a porous, igneous rock that has any number of chemical compositions that include a quartz base. Quartzite is a metamorphic rock that has a higher percentage of quartz in its chemical makeup than granite does. For the record, true quartzite is harder than true granite. But, don’t get too caught up in the name of the stone because regardless of which it is, geologically speaking, it has the same purpose.
Granite:
Granite is one of the most popular countertop materials that we carry here at Marble.com. Granite is a durable choice for kitchen countertops, bathroom vanities, bar tops, and more. Most Popular Granite Countertop Colors and details
BHANDARIMARBLEGROUP
Since it’s a naturally occurring igneous rock and isn’t man-made, you’re adding an element of natural luxury to your space without breaking the budget. There are literally hundreds of designs and color options to choose from, so there is bound to be a perfect slab out there for you.
Is there anything out there more popular than white counters right now? They’re popping up in kitchens everywhere, and for good reason. They coordinate with just about any cabinet color and it’s a classic yet elegant look.
BHANDARIMARBLEGROUP
Some Common Types Of Granite
White Granite
White Granite is harder to find than black or brown granite. All granite and Marble gets its name from the background color. Some white granite slabs have veins similar to marble while others may have a spattering of freckles in either brown, gray, black or red and may include a sprinkling of blue throughout.
White granite is a granite that is composed primarily of quartz minerals. The small black specks in the granite above are likely small amphibole grains.

River White Granite
River white on shaker style cabinets with laminate floors that look like hardwood. Since this design can be stretched along the length of the kitchen work surface, it can make any countertop look longer than it actually is. Like the currents of a river, you’ll find that the sweeping lines of this white granite countertop perfectly complement any kitchen design.
BHANDARIMARBLEGROUP
Kashmir White Granite
Kashmir white granite with a glass tile backsplash and chrome faucet.
If you’re looking for a white stone with just a bit of texturing, choosing Kashmir White Granite is an excellent choice. The salt and pepper look of the stone discreetly cloaks small countertop messes, which are harder to hide on light monochromatic countertops that have less variation. If you’re having trouble finding it at your local stone yard cotton white is a similar alternative.
Ice White Granite
Ice white granite paired with a beveled subway tile and mahogany cabinets. Ice white granite would go well in any space with hints of cool and calm colors. Light or dark gray cabinets look amazing with this stone, so the combination is sure to warm the hearts of your guests once they see it.
Himalayan White Granite
This stone is one of the most grey of the white choices, which means it would add contrast to any light colored kitchen. It has even been used by some designers as a marble substitute for projects with a lower price point. It’s one of the cheaper options on this list, which means you can start your remodel immediately without any regrets.
So if the stone you pick is completely black it’s likely gabbro, which makes for an excellent kitchen work surface, but you should know that all black slabs aren’t really granite even though that’s most likely what they are being called.
Absolute Black Granite
This is the purest black granite that you’ll find, with little to no traces of any other colors found in it. Absolute black is a great choice to create the high contrast black and white kitchen you may have been day dreaming about and it looks great polished or honed.
BHANDARIMARBLEGROUP mined from quarries in Brazil, takes on a wonderful jet black hue thanks to its’ abundance of mica.
Black Galaxy Granite
Black galaxy is the perfect name for this variety as it channels the look of a rural night sky. With small white flecks resembling the stars, this is a more family-friendly choice than absolute black since the flecks will help mask any messes and smudges, much like ubatuba does.
Brown Pearl Granite
Brown pearl granite counters polished to a highly refelective surface with a glass tile backsplash and chrome hardware. These brown pearl counters are polished to such a highly reflective surface you can see the faucet in them.
For those looking for a something a bit on the wild side, brown pearl granite is a great choice. Brown pearl incorporates brown, black, and white to create a look that nearly resembles a mosaic and looks much more expensive than it actually is.
BHANDARIMARBLEGROUP
Coffee Brown
Coffee brown is an option for those looking for something not-too-busy, but that still has depth to the design. This brown granite will appear as a near-solid brown from afar, so it will easily pair with any neutrals you want to bring into your space.

KITCHEN CABINET & COUNTERTOP COLOR COMBINATION IDEAS
BHANDARIMARBLEGROUP

Believe us when we tell you that the perfect combo will turn up, and when you see it you’ll know instantly that that’s exactly the one you’ve been looking for.
BHANDARIMARBLEGROUP
Bhandari Marble Group Team help us to create a new look of our kitchen. It’s been nearly two years now since our kitchen was done and we still don’t have a backsplash installed. Don’t be like us, make sure you pick everything out together and get it all installed at once.
BHANDARIMARBLEGROUP
FINISH OPTIONS
For even more options, any slab can be finished in a variety of different ways.
Finish Options
• Polished
• Leathered
• Honed
• Flamed

Polished
A polished finish can bring elegance to the look by giving off a reflective mirror-like finish to the stone.
BHANDARIMARBLEGROUP
Leathered
A leathered surface is textured and is not glossy at all. They’re great if you’re concerned about etching or staining because the imperfections will be less noticeable.
Honed
A happy medium between polished and leathered is honed. Honed finishes are smooth, matte finishes, that may still be slightly glossy depending on when the fabricator stopped working the stone. Like leathered, honed is also a great choice if you want to hide any wear and tear the stone may endure.
This honed work surface will hide wear and tear much better than a polished one.
Flamed
Flamed has a bumpier finish that is perfect for any heavy duty usage from outdoor kitchens to shower flooring.
BHANDARIMARBLEGROUP
Granite is the most versatile and budget-friendly choice of any stone, which makes it the perfect way to add luxury to your home without breaking the bank.

WELCOME THE NEW YEAR WITH NEW COLOURS, NEW DESIGNS AND NEW FINISH OF MARBLE, GRANITE, AND NATURAL STONE.
AVAILABLE EXCLUSIVELY AT BHANDARI MARBLES:
Bhandari Marble wishes everyone a very Happy and prosperous New Year. Amplify the appeal of your dream projects by the exclusive range of Marbles, granite and natural stone available at Bhandari Marble World.
Marble comes in endless colors and patterns. Here are just a few of the hundreds of types of marble that one might come across when searching for new floors:
Breccia: Breccia marble can vary stone to stone, and it tends to be a warmer and darker marble. Deep browns and reds are common with breccia and it looks great as a floor or countertop.
Carrara Marble: This is the classic marble that you see in Greek and Roman statues or fountains. It is a pure white marble and can maintain a pristine look, depending on the stone. It is also one of the lightest marbles available for flooring.
Calacatta: Calacatta marble is often confused with carrara, and while they are similar, they have very different characteristics. Both have similar vein patterns, but depending on the stone, calacatta is typically bolder and has more noticeable lines. It is also warmer in hue and can bring a hint of drama to any room.
Limestone: Believe it or not, limestone is a type of marble, and a very popular one at that. A naturally occurring stone, limestone is often tan or beige and is visibly porous. This is a great option for bathrooms, but should be placed strategically in a home. Its porous and soft nature makes it susceptible to damage in high-traffic areas.
But, not all marble floors have to be actual marble. Many homeowners achieve the same look they desire by using cultured marble. Cultured marble is a mix of marble dust and cement. It looks and feels similar to marble, although there are no veins or streaks of color. While this is a great option for some, the uniqueness of real marble is what makes it a great choice when decorating a home!
Aside from the different types of marble, there are three main ways to finish it and achieve different looks:
Polished Marble: We typically see this finish in big hallways and grand foyers. It is shiny and slick and can even be polished to the point of reflection.
Honed Marble: This type of marble is polished, but not to the extent of polished marble. It has a matte-like finish and does not reflect as much light. However it is still smooth and prevents slipping.
Sand Marble: Sand marble stones are a mixture of sand and marble and create an antique, rustic feel in any room.
So, now that you’ve chosen your favorite marble, here are a few things you should know about your beautiful flooring:
• Being a natural stone, marble is known for its porous surface. To keep it looking as good as new, it’s important to seal marble surfaces every six to twelve months.
• Polished marble can be quite slick, even more so if it’s wet. So while it is a great choice for bathrooms, bath mats and rugs should be placed in these locations to prevent dangerous slipping.
• Because of its unique vein patterns, marble tiles can be difficult to match. All tiles should come from the same stone to keep the floor consistent. The best way to make sure the tiles match together is to lay out of the flooring before it’s permanently installed.
• Marble acts a base, so if anything acidic were to come into contact with it, there will be a chemical reaction. Spills like orange juice, harsh cleaners, or any other acidic liquids need to be cleaned up immediately. Leaving spills to sit for too long and you can do irreversible damage to your marble floors.

White marble

Carrara marble
A Carrara marble quarry
Carrara marble is a type of white or blue-grey marble popular for use in sculpture and building decor. It is quarried in the city of Carrara in the province of Massa and Carrara in the Lunigiana, the northernmost tip of modern-day Tuscany, Italy.
History
Carrara marble has been used since the time of Ancient Rome and it was called the “Luni marble”. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the marble quarries were monitored by the Cybo and Malaspina families who ruled over Massa and Carrara. The family created the “Office of Marble” in 1564 to regulate the marble mining industry. The city of Massa, in particular, saw much of its plan redesigned in order to make it worthy of an Italian country’s capital.Following the extinction of the Cybo-Malaspina family, the state was ruled by the House of Austria and management of the mines rested with them. The Basilica of Massa is built entirely of Carrara marble and the old Ducal Palace of Massa was used to showcase the precious stone.
By the end of the 19th century, Carrara had become a cradle of anarchism in Italy, in particular among the quarry workers. According to a New York Times article of 1894, workers in the marble quarries were among the most neglected labourers in Italy. Many of them were ex-convicts or fugitives from justice. The work at the quarries was so tough and arduous that almost any aspirant worker with sufficient muscle and endurance was employed, regardless of their background.
FAMOUS MONUMENTS AND BUILDINGS BY CARRARA MARBLE
Birmingham’s King Edward VII Memorial was carved from a large piece of Carrara marble.
Adelaide’s first street statue, a copy of Venere di Canova, was carved from Carrara marble.
The marble from Carrara was used for some of the most remarkable buildings in Ancient Rome:
• Temple of Proserpina – later reused in many buildings in Valletta
• The Pantheon
• Trajan’s Column
• Marcus Aurelius
It was also used in many sculptures of the Renaissance including Michelangelo’s David whilst the statue to Robert Burns, which commands a central position in Dumfries, was carved in Carrara by Italian craftsmen working to Amelia Paton Hill’s model. It was unveiled by future UK Prime Minister Archibald Primrose, 5th Earl of Rosebery on 6 April 1882. Other notable occurrences include:
• Marble Arch, London
• Victoria Memorial, London
• Some sections of the Palace of the Marqués de Dos Aguas, Valencia, Spain
• Prem Mandir, Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, India
• Duomo di Siena, Siena, Italy

BHANDARI MARBLE GROUP
ABOUT CARRARA MARBLE BY BHANDARI MARBLE GROUP
From a design perspective, Carrara marble has been a popular choice in places such as Italy for millennia. The purer the carrara marble (meaning the whiter it is with less trace minerals), the more prized it is for sculptures, such as Michelangelo’s David. The way the light hits the calcite crystals makes the stone look almost translucent and lifelike.
APPLICATION AND USES
It’s been used for thousands of years for things from sculptures to buildings to furniture. It’s great for things like chocolate making and pastry baking, as the stone stays cool as you work with it. It also creates a beautiful counter for any kitchen or bathroom application.
As a rule of thumb, Carrara tends to be muddy in color and not pure white. Carrara is also less expensive and more common to find in your everyday marketplace or cut into tiles. Calacatta on the other hand has very bold veining with a crisp white background. While each natural stone slab is unique, Calacatta marble is much rarer than your typical Carrara.
LOOKS:
The main appeal of Carrara marble is its look. It is known for its white to light grey coloring with grey veining.
BHANDARI MARBLE GROUP
Bhandari Marble Group brings you the finest quality naturally occurring colored stones & slabs i.e from the marvelous marble to the sturdy sandstone from the tough pavings to the beautiful rainforest marble, from the classy international marble to our exclusive Indus Beige, all of these are sourced from corners of globe. Our selection of stones like marbles & granites are famed for their eye catching shades and excellent texture, which makes them an ideal option to decorate your home.

Quarries
The Carrara quarries have produced more marble than any other place on earth. Bhandari Marble Group is always ready for the customer quarries at any time. We are the largest and oldest group of marble, granite and natural stone.
BHANDARI MARBLE GROUP
The prize yield from Carrara quarries through millennia has been Statuario, a pure white marble, coloring in other marbles arises from intermixture with other minerals present in the limestone as it is converted to marble by heat or pressure. However, by the end of the 20th century, the known deposits of Statuario near Carrara are played out. The quarries continue to remove and ship up to a million tons/year of less-esteemed marble, mostly for export.
Bianco Carrara classified in C and CD variations as well as Bianco Venatino and Statuarietto are by far the most common types with more expensive exotic variations such as Calacatta Gold, Calacatta Borghini, Arabescato Cervaiole and Arabescato Vagli quarried throughout the Carrara area.
